CONCEPT BACKGROUND
Turkish Coffee is one of the oldest ways to make coffee and has a deep culture. It has many various ways to reach the rich aroma of coffee beans but perhaps the most satisfying and delicious one is to cook it in the sand. Combining the technology with a traditional background and creating a form language referring to the dynamism of sand waves was my prior task.
Redesigning the user’s interaction with product becomes an important issue as we include b2b market to our project scope. In small cafe’s & tea houses in turkey there is always a limited and busy workspace. Regarding the circulation small savings in time makes a big difference. So i choose angles that corresponds to an average barista’s approach angle with the counter. That also would make sure the coffee pot to lock itself via gravity. After defining the angular base i start to play around with form through my keywords and tried to achive a semi naked housing with a dynamic wavy but a definitive form language to also catch with Fakir’s brand identity.
After an intense concept development phase with lots of varying design approaches i ended up choosing 4, for initial concept proposals to detail and illustrate for my client to help him have a better understanding of the ideas for 2. phase.
Mock-up & Prototyping
After completing CAD Design Phase we started testing the product by building mock-ups & prototypes. During this prototyping phase while the engineers are checking the assembly details & trims & rigidity of the results. My focus was to study the usability and the interaction of the device including smooth & intuitive placement of the pot, pouring & handling ergonomy, and flow control.
DESIGN IN DETAILS
To achive fast and intuitive usage i needed to reconsider every detail of the product unitedly to fullfill the purpose of experience. That’s why i choose the connetctor as a continious extension of the pot in the contrary to the competitors which uses universal connectors and end up with aclecthical result with their form language. connetctorand create base for the guidance for directional placement.
