In great contrast to the bustling Bangkok streets, the riverside is peaceful and quite. The stillness is only interrupted now and then as the river boats break through the calm water causing a moment of raging water; and then, there is peace again.

It's amazing to find how many lucky people have held onto their homes so close to the riverside and so incredibly city central. These people are usually old but with large blossoming families that will, I hope, never flee from their priceless homes.
Further away from this central location, but still by the Bangkok riverside is Thewet market. A local flower market on one side of the stagnant river is juxtaposed with the dark and busy meat and vegetable market across the klong.
