The initiative began to restore livelihood for women from the marginalised communities in aftermath of Kerala flood 2018. Crippled effects of the disaster challenged livelihood options of hundreds of families and pushing them into absolute poverty.

River basins that create havok during the flood is also a rich source of bamboo and we have decided not only to tap the resource but also to develop a climate friendly sustainable livelihood model.

The initiative pitched in the larger context of climate change hence we make sure that supply chain is clean and eco sustainable.

We have been taken extra efforts to NOT obtain bamboo from the river banks, NOT to using any chemicals for the process and NOT cutting young bamboo,  by this we substantially contribute to reduction of carbon foot prints.

The strategic design of the model is aimed at gender mainstreaming and enabling the marginalized women economically independent.
