Pen and Ink on hand-cut, suspended, layered paper in a fully custom, hand-built, sculpted, carved, and gilded Italian frame (Shadowbox Paper Sculpture)
This piece was created over a span of 2000 hours and consists of 300+ layers of hand-cut, illustrated, and suspended Arches Hot-press Watercolor paper.
I built the frame for this piece by combining pre-made Italian frame molding, wood carving, and epoxy sculpt to create a closed corner frame with custom detail that picks up on the piece’s thematic.
