Holes

After a few early errands in the morning, you head home to relax the day away.
When I was designing Holes, I had various goals in mind before I settled on it being an adventure game of sorts. Since my theme was "Doing something simple...the most difficult way possible", I knew my beginning had to be travelling from one place to another, but I didn't what or how to make it difficult because to me difficulty meant an extremely hard puzzle. Obviously when it was time to work on it I realized that puzzles games require a lot of wit and prototyping that I didn't have time for so after venturing into itch.io to look for a game similar to my theme I discovered legbreaker which can be argued is really hard puzzle of sorts, but to me it looked like a simple concept. After playing it I decided to make a concept where the player is heading home, but before he reaches his house he falls through a hole and after that he has to go through these frustrating trials to get back home. Personally, I worked on the mechanics and original concept of the game alone during the weekend since that's when I'm able to do most of my schoolwork. after the first prototype during the weekend, I reworked the concept and mechanics due to the art that was made with me via my partner which really changed a lot of what I originally intended. I would like to think I made a game that's more of a ride showcasing how someone could have a good day in the beginning then showing how bad it can get in short time.
