Endlessskyscraper

Endlessskyscraper is a series of experiments that involve aesthetic principles and form-finding processes that combine human design with an artificial perception that emerges out of the nature of neural networks. The outcome is a series of towers generated by a generative adversarial network (GAN) that uses the collective memory of architectural plans that are then rendered using procedural materials. The project is an attempt to fuse two forms of architectural representation: one developed using a human understanding of space that includes orthogonal perception, gravity, tectonics and cultural reference, and the other an interpretation created by AI that knows nothing about the human mind, physical laws or building codes.

Form generation diagram

Drawings of walls were generated by using the StyleGAN2 neural network trained on architectural plans. Sixty drawings gradually change combine together to build each floor. The spiral cut allows watching interiors of the tower and emphasizes both cycles and infinity.

March of Endlessskyscrapers

Levels are stacked to endless skyscrapers. Levels create rhythm. This rhythm is a march and an improvisation at the same time. The march where the next step has the same size as the previous. Improvisation where each step inspired by previews one and is not the same as all others. Each level is a new story. The rhythm of composition is the sublimation of music without music. Levels are generated across the collective memory of architectural plans by neural networks.
