ON THE BLOCK

When I lived in Saint Petersburg, I adored roaming the after-dark brumal (winter) streets and examining the unfamiliar city.

I have moved to Tallin not that long ago and started walking down night streets just like I did in Petersburg. It turned out the two cities are quite alike, I started to find the same scenes.

Are these scenes really going to reoccur regardless of the city? Or am I, as a photographer, unconsciously trying to find something familiar to my eye? Is it good or bad to see and seek the same scenes in different places? Or trying to find familiar in unfamiliar is ordinary?

I’m trying to finding answers to all these questions through the project “On the block”.
