Volumetric representation of pedestrian movement in urban public realm. Using audio files for Kashi Ram Shah Marg, a street in West Delhi, resulted in a soundscape maquette.
Each strip represents the scaled distance of the Marg. The parabola forms when the pedestrians deviate from the footpath while encountering an urban object. These can range from a tree to a vendor cart. The interaction of the urban characters with these urban objects has been explored through a research dissertation.
The height of the parabola is directly proportional to the lack of hierarchy of activities that displace pedestrians onto the road from both sides. The imbalance between urban objects on either side of the road results in lopsided parabola.
