CONNECTIONS
Chair Design
Creating genuine connections is accepting loneliness
In life we are fortunate enough to come across places and people who change our lives for the better. We are faced with a choice in our interaction with them. Either deeply connect with them knowing that one day we will have to be apart, or simply not connect at all and save ourselves the loneliness that will one day follow. In life, I have chosen to connect and understand the people and places that are around me knowing that one day I will have to live without them by my side.
The Process
The chair is inspired by Basel and my personal story of moving across the country from New Mexico. The chair shows the connections and ideology that Basel teaches as well as my personal connections that I have made growing up.

The structure of the chair is made from Juniper wood which is a common tree in New Mexico and is a symbol of protection. The wood is one continuous structure that represents your never ending connection, while the harsh clear plastic represents the isolation and loneliness we feel as humans.
