Beyond Borders: PHYT Campaign

THE AIM To start a productive conversation about, our ocean’s micro-organisms and the PHYT against microplastics! Aiming to raise awareness and discover the ocean as a home to, phytoplankton and broader plankton communities. Our first levels producers and consumers to the ocean’s food chain. Through shining the lens on the life below water, making the unseen seen, an art projection and a supporting campaign will allow this aim to flourish.
THE PHYTOPLANKTON Defining the aesthetic of our phytoplankton was crucial to the development of the entire PHYT campaign. The final illustrations incorporate the many shapes and colours that occur in phytoplankton and other micro-organisms. They are randomly generated through the system below.
PROJECTION The aim of the projection was to create an immersive sensorial experience that artistically captured the essence of the Phyt Campaign: shining light on the unseen world of plankton in our ocean.
POSTERS We created an array of posters as an opportunity to enjoy our phytoplankton as stationary illustrations. Moreover, it was a means to share our message concerning phytoplankton and the overwhelming amount of microplastics in our oceans.
WAYFINDING ARROWS The decision to develop wayfinding arrows was made to support the versatility of our projection. Regardless of the size of the exhibition, these symbols will allow the audience to easily navigate our space, viewing and interacting with all of it’s many pieces. Our arrows are uniform but still highlight the range of our phytoplanktons and are user-friendly.
