This table was designed for the Women of Change homeless shelter in Center City Philadelphia. While the table is in the closed position, it offers a surface to work on, and encloses a small storage space, and its shape reduces the amount of space needed when the homeless shelter becomes crowded. When in the open position, the leafs provide a comfortable amount of personal space, and the intriguing design invites the resident to participate. The project was successful because it is a balance of theory and practicality. It simultaneously satisfies all of the parameters that were established in the beginning phase of the design, and the table is feasible.
