Tradition of Consumerism- Installation

As a graphic designer and fine artist, I have always been inspired by Andy Warhol’s work. I am particularly drawn to his exploration of combining design and art, while blurring the line between the two to investigate: what is art? I drew inspiration from Warhol’s content, and wanted to apply a lens of modern design and photography. To do this, I decided to explore subtractive CMYK and additive RGB color techniques. In the subtractive process of CMYK, color on paper absorbs light, while additive RGB reflects light.

Using traditional screen printing methods, I created a fine art print using Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow Process inks. Then, I photographed the images and added transparent overlays in Red, Green, and Blue to portray the illusion of different lighting effects. From this process I was able to successfully recreate light manipulation from a digital lens.
