Originally a project for print magazines, I’ve updated these cover designs for digital viewing on mobile devices.
Though they don’t have to compete on a physical shelf, the cover is still the first experience a reader has with a magazine. A recreation of the logo from the movie featured in the Empire magazine better draws in both new readers, and those familiar with the source material, as an homage to the original. The AKIRA logo is recreated in Adobe Illustrator, both as a fun personal challenge, and because of the legality issues using a high quality recreation made by someone else.
