Autumn in Watercolor, 2013

Watercolor sketches completed between September and November, 2013.

This season was for birds. School kept me kept shut up for much of the semester, but I still managed to do a little exploring and finding. A lot of the buildings on campus have big windows, and during migration season, they are prone to catching birds. I got three this year, and what made it unusual is that all but the catbird are in the same order and species of three that I found a few years prior. I kept them iced and double-bagged in my ricecooker; my roommates never suspected what I was keeping while I waited for time to study the birds.

All paintings are roughly 6"x8", Arches 140lb coldpress, in a handmade sketchbook.
