The “Cosmic Companions” is a project that I had created with intensions to show a variety of solutions to a project and would show a greater depth to my work and to my illustrations. It began with a sketch of a few characters for a Flash animation and from there I worked it into a book. I had gotten a lot of great feedback not only on the style, but also on the characters. It is because of their likability that I expanded on this concept of a very cute and clean illustrative style of work. As it progressed, more characters were created with this style and by the time I was done I had a large cast of characters, which I named the “Cosmic Companions.” As with many popular cartoon characters of the time I found it easy to use them on a variety of products, like children’s body wash and children’s vitamins.

This project, especially, has been very eye opening for me. Not only has it shown me the amount of work that can go into really flushing out a project, but the reward that can come with it. This project really pushed me become a better graphic designer and illustrator and not only be able to create a product, but create a whole universe. Although I had gone through hundreds of sketches and revisions it really pushed me to create something that is very refine, developed and was well thought through. It has really taught me a lot about the world of graphic design, illustration and about myself as a graphic artist.
