Varsity Lacrosse player Clifford Kigar is a coach for young players for Haymakers Lacrosse in Columbus, Ohio. As recognition for his academic achievements. Clifford Kigar received the Rensselaer Medal from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has awarded the Rensselaer Medal and Scholarship to students who have shown great potential in mathematics and science for over 100 years. First presented in 1916, the medal was awarded to recognize young women and men who have demonstrated tremendous academic achievement and encourage them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

The merit scholarship is worth $120,000, with $30,000 presented every year for four years to medalists who enroll and are accepted at Rensselaer. Winners of the medal and scholarship are nominated by their respective high schools based on their performance in their junior year, after which they are to apply to the polytechnic. If accepted, they are presented with the Rensselaer Medallion at an honors convocation ceremony held by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
