Peak 15 Playing Cards

The Peak 15 Deck started its life as a prize for an Ellusionist Seasonal Competition. The winner was given the rare opportunity to work with the Ellusionist design team to create their own custom deck of cards. The winner was passionate about hiking, mountaineering, outdoor pursuits and adventure. Together we came up with the concept behind the Peak 15 deck.
Peak 15 was the original surveyor's name for Mount Everest, prior to its designation as the world's tallest mountain. We found that idea of one of the most famous and adventurous locations in the world once being little more than another unexplored peak really interesting.
We quickly landed on sharp modern geometric styling combined with a softer dappled texture to create depth and shadow. This worked wonderfully to flesh out the jagged mountain shapes and fading moon and sun. We laced the design with interesting details about Everest and easter eggs relating to the prize winner.
