Miss Jessie's Ad Campaign

For this project, I was asked to find an existing brand and create a new print ad campaign. I chose to create ads for Miss Jessie's, a brand of natural hair care products for women of color.

As an African American woman with naturally curly hair, I felt a special connection to this project. Although there has been a huge movement to "go natural" in the Black community, maintaining naturally kinky hair can be particularly frustrating. Retaining length, defining curls, combatting curl shrinkage and locking in moisture are constant struggles that can leave a natural girl defeated and unhappy about her hair.

With this in mind, my goal was to create a campaign that encouages women of color to embrace their kinks and curls. Having naturally curly hair is something to be celebrated and with Miss Jessie's hair care products, women will finally be Joyfully Curly.

I drew all of the figures with a marker and used Illustrator and Photoshop to colorize and stylize them.
