This icon was inspired by G.K. Chesterton's book "Saint Francis of Assisi," in which the bright, playful, clownish nature of St. Francis is brought out particularly through his title "The Juggler of God." St. Francis can certainly be considered an example for our times through his love of the poor and care for the environment, but he may prove especially important due to this lightness and childlike wonder which he lives out so naturally in the midst of crisis.
