triquetra
bamboo stool made from a tri-knot weave of splits

triquetra is a bamboo stool made by creating a tri-knot weave utilizing 7 bamboo splits, in a light, airy form, weighing less than 5kg and yet able to take the load of a person standing on it, about 80 kgs of concentrated weight. The stool, while it can be used as is, also functions as a sub-structure that can be upgraded with a seat or a tabletop attached to the top.

This object is a WIP, as it was done within a short period of temporary workshop access provided by the institute, during the currently ongoing pandemic.

The initial ideas revolved around trying to design a knockdown bamboo seating, which would allow the the side profiles to be in the same plane, assembled with the ties, backrest and seat in the between.

But this wasn't a bamboo chair. This was a chair that happened to be made out of bamboo.

Why not try to create something that would use the inherent properties of bamboo itself?

So, that worked. Somewhat.
Why not try making it functional stool?

This object is a WIP.
