Zen Tea — Infused Tea
Zen Tea is a mixture of concentrated tea blends infused with CBD and THC packaged in a unique box. Inspired by the Chinese mythology, the brand represents each flavour with a respective animal. Each mythical animal represents the strength and flavour of the tea. This product was the result of semester-long project at Seneca College – Graphic Design Program of IMC, which stands for Integrated Marketing Campaign.

CBD, THC, and Hybrid
ZEN TEA is a unique mixture of concentrated tea blends infused with CBD, THC or a HYBRID of both. It comes in four flavours, each with a different effect. Jasmine Tea infused with CBD, Rose Tea infused with THC, Blueberry Tea infused with both THC and CBD and so as Oolong Tea.
Serving Demonstration
We chose to use reusable pods to appeal to young people on the go who are looking for something different than traditional tea bags. All you need to do is squeeze a little bit into hot or cold water for a relaxing, uplifting drink. Once the pod is empty, it can be recycled or returned for loyalty reward points. The pods are then shipped away, cleaned and prepared to be used again
Logo
Our icon is simple yet unique. We use a leaf on the top to depict our organic ingredients of tea and cannabis, below that is a diamond shape that represents our tea pods. The colour of the icon changes depending on the flavour.
Typography
We chose Gotham as the brand’s main typography because of its boldness and sturdiness it conveys. It can be formatted in many ways such as shifting it in an angle and still retains its firmness. This helps to communicate the brand personality of strong but playful as tea can be enjoyed at any time during busy or relaxing time.
Colour
We wanted to keep Zen Tea grounded to appeal to the niche and young generation from 18 to 28 thus the bold with the muted main colour, however we also applied the vibrancy to allow other generation to be included.
Illustration
Each mythical animal represents the spirit that each flavour brings. It allows for psychological illusion in tasting the tea, thus whoever enjoys it will feel its spirit staying onto them for as long as they drink it.
Box and Pods
Our packaging is a complex yet simple design. The animals, influenced by Chinese mythology are intricate and detailed. While the vertical logo and product display panel is simple and clean. On the inside the simple feel is continued with a bold colour. There’s a short Zen quote for inspiration and the pods are laid out in a set of ten.
Brand Principles
We aren’t just selling an awesome tea infused with cannabis, we are selling our ourselves and our brand. As an independent small business, we need to be a step above to set ourselves apart from the big guys, we need to forge our own identity and be something our customers can buy into. To do so, we believed it was important to build our brand on 4 strong guiding principles.
Tagline
Playing around with the Generation Z idea. We chose to incorporate the term into the tagline appeal to the generation while maintaining broader target audience thus the zen word comes in. From the unique mix of cannabis and tea to the newly developed instant tea pods. Zen Tea is leading the way to new experiences.
Zen Tea Truck
Our tea truck (we call the Zen Mobile) will park at Nathan Phillips Square where the event is held. We will give away a small bag with a pod of Zen Tea and a cup. Along side the give away will be our Zen Tea experience pods.
Merchandise

Phillips Hue Partnership
Working with Philips we have designed a Zen Tea experience. We assemble four tents in the shape of our pods. Inside is a comfortable seating area, a table, cups, a kettle and some of our Zen Tea pods. The cup is lifted and Phillip’s innovative technology takes over. The main lights are automatically dimmed, a colour light show starts, soothing music plays and a pleasant aroma begins to fill the air. It will be a Zen experience that plays with the senses.
