Indigenous Awareness Art

Indigenous Awareness Art
Summer, 2021

With the recent events that have come to light involving the Indigenous population. I have completed a couple of Indigenous Awareness Art in hopes to raise awareness and open the conversation to some of the past and present issues being faced by the Indigenous population. Both projects were completed using a combination of Canva and Procreate and were digital created by me over this Summer
This was a sticker/digital design that I created for a friend of mine back during the first discover of a mass residential school grave that shocked the nation. The image of the girl was redrawn by me in procreate where I added the text and the feathers with the three colours (taken from the indigenous medicine wheel.) This was my first indigenous awareness piece and while I was nervous to share it. I am very proud of how it turned out and how pays tribute to the indigenous children that lost their lives.
This is a personal art piece that I made over the summer as part for indigenous awareness. This is a art has the words of the original Indian Act in 1876 and is intended to highlight the it's impact in defining and control the government had the indigenous population and thought it has since been amended. The impact of such legislation still exists and is present today in the indigenous peoples health.
