Este proyecto nació con el objetivo de crear una animación experimental la cual contara con cierta narrativa y donde se jugara con distintas técnicas. Decidí mezclar la animación 2D digital con un poco de rotoscopia y así lograr movimientos y transformaciones visualmente interesantes.
En cuanto a la temática, quise jugar un poco con la paradoja del gato de Schrödinger
y algunas de sus interpretaciones. Este es un experimento en el cual la vida de un gato depende de si una partícula se descompone o no, lo cual ilustra un problema de la mecánica cuántica. El punto del experimento es que el gato está al mismo tiempo vivo y muerto hasta que se le observa, hay quienes dicen que explica el colapso de realidades
e incluso está la interpretación de los “muchos mundos” donde se crean dos ramas
del universo. Investigando, encontré que Schrödinger quería mostrar lo absurdo de la mecánica cuántica y con esta animación quisiera perpetuar un poco esto y explotar las interpretaciones que hay.

it's interpretations. This is an experiment in which a cat's life depends on whether a particle decays or not, illustrating a problem in quantum mechanics.
The paradox is that the cat is both alive and dead until it is observed, some say it explains the collapse of realities and there is even the interpretation of the “many worlds” where two branches of a reality are created. Investigating, I found that Schrödinger wanted to show the absurdity of quantum mechanics and with this animation I would like to perpetuate this and exploit the interpretations that exist.
Proceso
La idea de este proyecto surgió de la mezcla entre mi fascinación sobre la paradoja de Schrödinger y mi amor por los gatos. Después de investigar sobre el tema, hice una lluvia de ideas de lo que podría pasarle al gato dentro de la caja y la forma en la que se podría transicionar entre ellas. Posteriormente, realicé bocetos de poses comunes de gatos para familiarizarme con su fisionomía. En cuanto a la animación, hice uso de la técnica
"pose a pose" en la que establecía las poses claves de las acciones para después dibujar los cuadros intermedios. Para la secuencia donde hay varios gatos caminado, realicé rotoscopia sobre un video de referencia. De igual forma, la última parte de la animación hace homenaje a una de las caricaturas más famosas de la historia: Bob Esponja.
Process
The idea for this project came from the mix between my fascination with Schrödinger's paradox and my love for cats. After researching the topic, I brainstormed what could happen to the cat in the box and how I could transition between the possibilities.
Later, I made sketches of common cat poses to familiarize myself with their physiognomy. As for the animation, I made use of the technique "pose to pose" in which I established the key poses of the actions and then drew the intermediate frames. For the sequence where there are several cats walking, I rotoscoped a reference video. Likewise, the last part of the animation pays tribute to one of the most famous cartoons in history:
SpongeBob SquarePants.
