Website Design
Rachelle Purych is an animator based out of Victoria, BC, Canada. She works with startups, businesses, and agencies to create animated videos that deliver crafted messages. Rachelle and I collaborated to rebrand and redesign an updated portfolio website for her freelance animation business.
Creative Direction
Our goal was to create a responsive, user-friendly website that showcased Rachelle's story, portfolio, and animation services. Another goal of the project was to express the energy of Rachelle's visual style: fun and whimsical. These qualities were captured in the original characters, illustrations and Lottie animations that Rachelle created for the website – and also inspired the bold colour choices and playful interactions in the website design.
Web Icons
Rachelle's illustrated characters are featured on the webclip bookmark image and favicon for rachellpurych.com. These custom icons introduce the website's branding to important interaction points in the user journey, allowing users to easily identity the website when they're searching for it online.
Behind The Scenes
A minimalistic design puts focus on the quality and execution of the visual content. The vector graphics and Lottie animations featured on the website were carefully constructed, and layout choices were made to optimize the website's responsive across different devices and screen sizes.
Results
Rachelle and I were both stoked on the final website, and shared a celebratory (virtual) high-five at its launch. Despite working remotely together through a pandemic lockdown, we were still able to execute each step of the web design process, including content strategy, wire-framing, asset creation, and user testing. Together, we built a website that met all the goals of the project and captured the spirit of Rachelle's work.
