The bicycle is becoming an increasingly used means to move around the city. However, many people don’t feel confident in leaving their bikes parked in the street, so they take them inside home or office, with the risk of dirtying the floor.
The goal of the project was to design an accessory to enhance the cycling experience in the city.
SOLUTION
Wrapup are bicycle wheel covers consisting of elastic and waterproof bands to be easily wrapped around the wheels before entering a building. The covers are fixed directly on the bicycle fenders and are contained in two small cylindrical cases, one for each wheel.
INTERACTION
Unlike other solutions on the market, this product has the advantage of being placed on the bicycle to be always at hand when needed. In addition, it is applied with a few simple gestures, taking advantage of the movements of the bicycle.
Step 1 – The cases are opened and the band is unrolled, fixing its end between the spokes of the wheel
Step 2 – Pulling the bicycle backwards the band wraps on the wheel
Step 3 -The other end of the band is fixed to the wheel to keep it still
KEY FEATURES
Small dimension
Despite the lengthening of the band (50 to 100cm), once rewound it takes up little space, which makes it possible to anchor it to the fenders without hindering the normal use of the bike.
Dirt catching
The Gore-Tex is waterproof and the elastics on the edges keep the band always closed towards the inside to not let the dirt out.
Washability
Being fixed by buttons, the band can be easily removed from the case and washed.
