Accelerating Digital Health Across the MHS

Accelerating Digital Health Across the MHS
The Defense Health Agency’s Connected Health Branch coordinates across the U.S. Military Health System to improve health and readiness through technology, and each year the branch creates a short promotional video showcasing its products and services. In 2020, new organizational leadership significantly widened the scope of the video beyond highlighting only the branch’s accomplishments. The 2021 video had to showcase how DHA Connected Health’s partnerships across the Department of Defense help pave the way forward in digital health for the MHS to accomplish its goal of keeping service members at the center of everything it does.

Developing the 2021 video presented numerous creative and logistical challenges. Because of the unprecedented nature of the project within such a large agency, and the safety measures in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was difficult to acquire custom b-roll footage. However, after many hours of sourcing footage from the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, editing live-action b-roll from the field with computer-generated graphics, and incorporating visual effects in post-production, DHA Connected Health accomplished its goal.

The 2021 video premiered at the inaugural DHA Digital Health Virtual Summit on June 1, 2021, with hundreds of MHS providers and leaders from across the globe in attendance. The branch has also shared the video both internally and externally. To date, the video has had more than 61,300 views across DHA Connected Health social media channels.
