COPENHAGEN ( København )
DENMARK
Voted as the happiest city on earth, Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark, has a rich history dating back to the 10th century. During the Middle Ages, Copenhagen was a small fishing village, but it became an important center for trade and commerce in the 15th century. During the reign of King Christian IV in the early 17th century, Copenhagen experienced significant growth and development, with many new buildings and structures being constructed, including the iconic Round Tower and the Stock Exchange.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Copenhagen underwent a major transformation, with the development of new residential areas and the construction of new public buildings, parks, and museums. Today, Copenhagen is a vibrant and thriving city, with a rich cultural heritage, a thriving tourism industry, and a thriving economy.
Walking around Copenhagen is so much joy, I could see buildings in colorful-pastel-boxy everywhere. I also notice that Copenhagen has the longest pedestrian shopping street in the world! I guess the longer you shop the happier! As Karen Blixen, Danish author once said, "Copenhagen is not a place you visit. It's a place you feel." Enjoy!
Thank you for traveling with me!
This is part of my ongoing travel visual clips, where I share a glimpse of my travel visuals and thoughts. Each series features a paragraph about the history of the place, followed by a paragraph describing my thoughts while exploring that place. Accompanied by no more than fifteen carefully curated images that I took, each series is intended to give you the umami of travel. - Julius Yls
