Expressive Typography Poster
I created this expressive typography poster in Adobe Illustrator for my Typography I class. We were each assigned a Maya Angelou poem and I received the poem "Caged Bird." For this poster I decided to only use the very first stanza of the poem since it was the part that resonated most with me.
As I read the first stanza I felt this feeling of optimism and positivity from the caged bird breaking free and claiming this freedom. I wanted viewers to also experience this emotion so I chose a darker blue at the top and as you read the poster the background fades into a warm and optimistic orange. I also used hierarchy through choosing a few different typefaces and fonts throughout the poster to emphasize certain words and phrases.
