The Mother and Child Cash Transfers Plus Programme (MCCT+)
The Commission on Social Safety and Poverty Reduction under the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) launched the Mother and Child Cash Transfer Plus (MCCT+) Programme With the technical support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), CSSPR will target pregnant women and women with children under the age of two years with cash transfers integrated with health, nutrition, child protection and WASH services to children in their first 1,000 days.
The mother and child cash transfer program aims to help pregnant and breastfeeding women access better quality food, pay for transportation to health centers and purchase essential items for infants. The social assistance is integrated with intervention to raise awareness, knowledge and skills when it comes to infant and young children dietary choices through cross practices of public health, nutrition, environmental sanitation and basic services support.
