For this project, we had to format and mock up an entire book that we found on public domain. In addition to typesetting the entire novel, we had to design a cover, spine, and back cover, as well as several original illustrations that would be interspersed throughout the book. The novel I chose was The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, since it is a book I read recently and thoroughly enjoy.

I decided to give my version of the book a more illustrative and symbolic spin, which can be seen throughout the cover art and interior illustrations.

The lettering on the covers are a combination of set type (Hoefler Text) and my own script handwriting.
Below are some sample spreads and my five interior illustrations.
The illustrations were drawn in Procreate on my iPad and then transferred into InDesign.

I had an incredibly fun time learning how to typeset a book/design a book cover, and it is something I would love to learn to get better at moving forward in my design career.

(Below are some earlier drafts of the illustrations and book cover.)
