For this assignment, I had to highlight a musician in a catalog inspired by an artistic movement. I chose to represent Remi Wolf in the style of psychedelic band posters from the 1960's, which were made popular by artists like Rick Griffin, Victor Moscoso, Bonnie MacLean, Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelley, and Wes Wilson. Remi's spunky attitude, creativity and vibrancy drew me to the movement of psychedelic posters, which gets its own inspiration from Art Nouveau, Dada and Pop Art. I wanted to put a new twist on Remi's personal style by maintaining her colorful personality and sound and combining it with the free flowing shapes and crisp lines used in the 60's posters. To make the viewer perceive these pages as posters rather than book spreads, I oriented the book vertically so it reads top to bottom rather than left to right.
I expanded this project to include a series of merchandise for sale on Remi's tour. 3 Posters based on the catalog, a t-shirt, hat design, and VIP lanyards are all a part of the tour brand identity.
