The Village is a magazine that focuses on life of Moscow, its infrastructure and transportation. Knowing now acute the road safety issues are in the city, and how often overlooked they can be, The Village decided to create a special application to draw even more attention to the problem.

Despite the daily occurrence of traffic accidents, they normally go unnoticed by the majority of the public. Why? Because traffic officials are quick and efficient in cleaning up the mess, both steel and human, left behind. Only a few passers-by and drivers actually ever see the deformed cars, the broken bodies and the sense at each site.

In an effort to bring attention to these accidents and promote traffic safety, The Village and Leo Burnett Moscow developed Death Revealer -- an iPhone app that enables one to become instantly aware of the traffic accident history of any particular location. Thanks to GPS, Google Maps and augmented reality, all it takes is pointing one's iPhone to a spot on any street, side street or crossroads, and if there has ever been a reported or documented accident there, the corresponding symbols and photographs will immediately appear on the very place where it happened. While at times shocking, The Village hopes that citizens will use this tool as a way to become more aware of their environment and more cautious on the roads.
The project received a Silver Drum and became a finalists in several categories at the Golden Drum international advertising festival.
