The most devastating thing for a child is to grow up without a father. On average, 18.3 million children grow up without this figure in their lives. One cause of father absence is because the he is still a teenager when the child is born. At this age it is hard to know the roles of a father, especially since these teen fathers most likely grew up without a father figure themselves.
The Team Dad Campaign was created as a group project for Graphic Design II to help adolescent dads find the support, they need to become an involved father.
The location of these campaign posters are placed in area where teenage boys frequent and would be forced to observe.
Theses posters are meant to show teen dads that being a father cannot be avoided and their involvement is vital. Choices must be made whether to continue with their lives as before or to take the responsibility of their child.
The social media for Team Dads is an Instagram page because it is the most widely used social media platform used by teens today.
The posts consist of photos and stories of other teen fathers, as well as information from organizations like National Fatherhood Initiative and Fatherhood.gov.
The editorial element of this campaign features an article written by a man who became a father at the age of sixteen. In this article he talks about his journey of becoming a involved father.
