Nothing tastes better than a cup of freshly roasted coffee from a lovely family owned roastery! 

Marvin and Eline started their company Zwarte Roes as a passion project, they travelled all over the world together learning about specialty coffee and where it comes from. They founded their brand in 2017. with a mission to encourage people to be mindful consumers and support ethically sourced products all while sharing their love for awesome, high quality coffee.

Three years later, they came to me ready to take their brand to the next level! They wanted to polish up their look by establishing an official cohesive brand identity. I had to make sure the new branding was still recognisable to their loyal customers, so I translated certain elements from the original packaging into the new branding. I kept the colour of their original label as their main brand colour-Zwarte Roes Blue and translated the illustration from the same label into the new logo icon.



The visual identity is inspired by the origin of the brand. It’s fun, adventurous, joyful and colorful and it reflects the spirit and interests of their ideal customer. The front of the packaging is kept minimal with a plane ticket inspired label that contains the basic information about the coffee type in the bag. 

The sides of the bag are decorated with an abstract pattern in the official colour palette of the brand that can be seen throughout the rest of the branding. The back of the packaging is a bit more personal and fun, displaying a little map of the couple’s journey as well as a personal message from Marvin and Eline describing their mission directly to the customer.
