URBY Urban Interaction

URBY is a prospective space that not only provides comfort to the user in urban areas, but also the option to charge each owns small electrical device (laptop, mobile phone, music player...).

The electricity is produced thanks to “Power Felt”, a fabric developed by the Center for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials at Wake Forest University, that can capture the body and enviromental heat to convert it into electricity.

The fabric is composed by layers of carbon nanotubes intertwined with  plastic fibers that work together to facilitate the creation of energy (thermoelectric effect).

The arquitecture of URBY is simply composed with a metallic tube structure covered with the textile, giving the user a sensation of suspension in the air. Above the user's head, protected from the rain, there are plugs to connect the electrical devices.

URBY was developed in collaboration with Gizem Bilkay and took part in "Futuro Textiles Awards 2012".
