Mental illness self-portrait project

people shouldn’t be ashamed of assuming they have any kind of disorder. mental health is as important as physical health. you should be able to proudly talk about your disorder, even though you’re not proud of having it. theres nothing to be ashamed of. we all go through different situations along life that lead us to who we are, but we always have the possibility of overcoming that and be the bigger person. many people state that they could never understand what would make somebody want to commit suicide. do not be ashamed of who you are. mental illness is not something that you chose to live with, but it is not something that needs to hold you back or define you. you can do everything that you want to do, even with it. as cheesy as it might sound, your only limits are the ones that you set for yourself and that is just as true for mentally ill people as it is for neurotypical people. we all have our scars, internal or externally and there’s nothing wrong with the fact that they exist. they’re a sign that you had been hurt. a sign that you had healed. i myself think i am a weak, ephemeral creature made of mud and dream. but at the same time i feel all the powers of the universe whirling within me and nothing is more comforting than being one with all the versions of yourself and being just fine and at peace with it. stay real and with hope folks.
