PSA Campaign - Find the Balance
Project Brief
This project was challenging, but also a practical way to work through real-world design scenarios. I created a series of 3 posters that could be used in a Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign. I chose to base my ideas and designs off of MyPlate.gov and the idea of having a balanced diet and lifestyle. I think this is a social issue that is relevant today and effects many people.
Process
First, I did some rough sketches.
I went through a few digital sketch stages. Nothing felt quite right. I didn't want something too obvious, but I wanted them to look cohesive and fun. I thought that showing the balance of donuts and broccoli was creative. I also liked the idea of a rainbow showing the happy balanced lifestyle everyone should aim for. It still wasn't quite right.
After some guidance from my peers and professor, I came to a new version of the rainbows that I love. Monochromatic and bright, these were more the mood I was going for. I tweaked them a few times before I came to this final product. Each poster has a rainbow to represent happy balance, the Ad logo, and an url for further information.
Final Images and Mockups
The orange poster is about the balance of calories in all ages. It is also pointing out how sugar can throw off your daily balance.
The blue poster is about the different types of physical exercise. There is endurance, strength, and balance that all contribute to overall fitness, along with a balanced diet.
Lastly, the green poster. This rainbow signifies the food balance. Veggies, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy all make up a balanced diet.
