MyWS Employee and Student Portal for Walters State Community College
After years of fighting with the bloated Luminis Portal, we began exploring options for a home-grown solution.
Students and Employees now have information concisely presented in a clean, responsive format built utilizing CSS Grid. Students—the main audience—can quickly see information alerting them of actions they must take. Two main hero buttons take users to the most frequented locations: eLEARN—the school's LMS system and Mail (Senators Mail for students, WS Mail for faculty and staff).
A self-service area has been broken down into friendly, custom icons — quickly getting users where they need to go. Students have access to key student and financial systems—while employees have access to their own employee section. Additional content based on employee user type also appears at the bottom. Giving additional quick access to other internal systems.
Dynamic content is pulled in from the college's news and calendar systems. Bringing up to date information directly to our students and employees.
The portal is tucked in behind an ETHOS identity system—which has also been custom skinned with a responsive design. This gives a fluid experience to the users from sign in to application destination—
