“Translations” is a series of 15 embroidered canvas strips that ties back to
a visual translation done of a text written in a foreign language (25x6cm)
and was done in 2018. The way I translated it was I had the text said to me
and I would draw its “wavelength” depending on how long the sentences
were; eg: short sentence, less waves, long sentence, more waves. With this
project I was looking for new ways to express drawing as well as new ways
of abstraction. This was an eye opening project as it made me realize my
passion for patiently working on a piece, textiles, and working with text.
