DESIGN DISTRICT
The Brief: “To conceive a design district with its epicenter in Noida - a place  of contemplation and engagement under the joint aegis of design, habitat, and art.”

A design district can be a cultural hub, focusing on inclusivity, can have a unique character, a contemporary mindset, nurturing creativity, attracting creativity and enhancing the neighbourhood – focusing on its  growth. It can have an inter-disciplinary approach, can cater to different palettes focusing on design, art , creativity, products, space, entertainment and much more.
The intent of my project was bringing together people who have a shared impulse to integrate life into art through the use of events, sounds, and materials, thereby bringing about social and economic change.

Process
Kalakari gali / Kalakar-e-gali
CONCEPT

Painting walls together, sploshing paint filled balloons, filling the street with laughter, chatter and a whole lot of paint. Aesthetically creating a better environment, while involving everyone and making this an all inclusive event.

Interactive bins relating to the area and the cigarette stubs lying all around, focusing on the cleanliness of the “gali”. The bin is supposed to have a “question on it with a choice to vote with a cigarette stub.

Building an “art garden” Gardens on “wheels” art projects and the materials needed to make them potentially for dyeing fabric and making paints list of potential plants for the garden and identify the type of art materials  they can provide

Writing your feelings or messages or the gratitude  in this time and showing different stages of this pandemic. For example- hypothetically COVID-19 is over we can all hang our masks on the walls to represent that there was a time when it was mandatory to wear these, and write our thoughts/expressions/experiences/messages on them and hang them to show this timeline.

Gratitude wall- positive energy thanking our heroes who helped in the pandemic, our families and our friends.
