Thomas E. Beeman's profile

The Legion of Merit with Three Oak Leaf Clusters

The former CEO of Lancaster General Health and COO of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Thomas E. Beeman is a retired rear admiral in the US Navy Medical Service Corps. Among his other military honors, Thomas E. Beeman has a Legion of Merit with three oak clusters.

A highly prestigious honor, the Legion of Merit Medal stands above the Distinguished Flying Cross in terms of rank. The Legion of Merit recognizes outstanding conduct and service in military members who hold essential positions of power and responsibility.

Physically, the medal stands apart from the vast majority of decorations in that it should be worn on a ribbon around the neck. Other than the Medal of Honor, it is the only US military medal designed to be worn this way.

US military officials denote additional Legion of Merit awards with one or more oak leaf clusters. Three oak leaf clusters indicates that Mr. Beeman has received Legion of Merit honors on three different occasions.
