Having worked on the front page story above, I tipped off the Daily Mail on the story and worked with them to build their story (though no byline or 'additional reporting' byline was permitted).
I was contacted by an NHS whistleblower about their concerns for the local mental health facilities. Though I had hoped to see this exclusive grace the front page, it was unfortunately hidden in the first half of the paper.
Regardless, once this article was published, I was contacted by further NHS whistleblowers and ran the second article. As a reasonably cub journalist at this point, working with whistleblowers, protecting their identity while ensuring the content was legally water-tight was a great experience.
