Jungle map Level design

Brief

A concept was made during workshops in Fenomenarium (art school Poland) with Bozena Chadzynska. Our main goal was to produce ready assets for a 2.5D game. We got a random sketch of the level from the Ori game and on this base, we created our own levels. I wanted to go into the theme of pirates, magic, and voodoo. As an art line, I choose contrasting warm/cold palettes and very stylized assets. I used lights and temperature to guide the user eyes to the most important objects (treasure, crystal or dangerous traps). Everything in the level was hand-painted and animation was done in after effect. 

The crucial part was keeping layers organized and actively thinking about which part of the object need to be separated to make a parallax effect.
