The REMAININGS!

Growing up in Quetta, the normal conversation in between friends is the experience of blast. How it Happened? What I was doing? When did I visited the scene? What did I see when I visited the scene?

For my Photography project I wanted to do something related to those memories. What I have witnessed! I have witnessed the burnt clothes, bones, body parts into pieces, and belongings of the victims clung in blood.

I had a few ideas and my research was based on interviews with the victims' families. I realized that for most of them, it is impossible to forget their lost loved ones. They somehow still feel connected to them.

I approached the families of victims those who have lost their loved ones in different incidents of bomb blast and target killing. They showed me the martyr’s belongings, which they have saved since their martyrdom. That sight was extremely heart-wrenching and I can't describe the amount of pain their family is going through since then.

In the background of the picture, red threads are the symbolic representation of dripping blood, and the names that are stitched on a piece of cloth depicts that they are GONE but NOT FORGOTTEN.

I realized that the ones who leave us are lucky because the ones left behind spend the rest of their days mourning while awaiting their turn. Life is cruel in this part of the world.

May the HAZARA community get the justice they deserve, may no human being ever suffer like this.
