Japanese Myth - Three Precious Children
AMATERASU-OOMIKAMI

In the term of creation of heaven and earth, the three creator gods appeared first and accordingly 5 heavenly gods and 7 generations of gods appeared in order.
The last two gods, IZANAGI & IZANAMI, started the birth of Japan/ the birth of Gods.
When IZANAMI created the god of fire, she lost her life with its frames.
Once IZANAGI went to realm of the dead missing his partner, IZANAMI, he returned back alone knowing that she is no more alive.
IZANAGI performed his ablutions with the water after he is back.
AMATERASU-OOMIKAMI was born when he washed his left-eye.
TSUKUYOMINOMIKOTO was born when he washed his right eye.
SUSANOONOMIKOTO was born when he washed his nose.
These gods are called as ”Three Precious Children”.
AMATERASU-OOMIKAI was told to rule Takamagahara(Heavens).
She is the god of the sun, and at the same time, she is the god of the well-being of a nation, stable/stronger life expectancy, bumper crop, and prosperity of descendants.
TSUKUYOMINOMIKOTO

After AMATERASU-OOMIKAMI was born from the left eye of IZANAMI,
TSUKUYOMI was born from the right eye.
He is stated as the god of agriculture, safe maritime navigation, well‐being family, safe childbirth, dreams which comes true.
Though there are several anecdotes about AMATERASU and SUSANOO, TSUKUYOMI does not have many. However it makes his existence mysterious.
According to one theory, TSUKUYOMI and SUSANOO is recognized as same god.
In the other theory, TSUKUYOMI was set to balance gentle AMATERASU and malevolent SUSANOO.
He was told to rule the night by IZANAGI.
Or his only anecdotes is that AMATERASU ordered him to see UKEMOCHI(the god of food), so he did.
UKEMOCHI welcomed TSUKUYOMI with the food from her mouth, and it made him angry enough to kill her.
AMATERASU blamed him and ordered him to stay apart from AMATERASU forever - let him stay at the land of the night.
This is the origin of Day & Night.
SUSANOONOMIKOTO

SUSANOONOMIKOTO is the last god of “Three Precious Children”, and he was born when IZANAGI washed his nose.
He has multiple aspects as a baby crying for his mother, as a violent god to rage in heaven. His behavior appears as malevolent god in the earlier episodes.
After he descend to IZUMO, he found a beautiful goddess, KUSHINADAHIME, who had to be a sacrifice for YAMATANOOROCHI (evil dragon with 8 heads).
However SUSANOO used his wiseness and power to defeat YAMATANOOROCHI, and it turned him to be described as a hero shortly.
From the dead body of evil dragon, SUSANOO had gotten a sword of god which is famous as one of the treasure from three sacred treasures among the imperial family of Japan.
