Shoot plans
For my initial photoshoot (shoot 1) I intend to make a group of work based on youth subcultures. As it will be my first shoot I don't want to take hundreds of photos of different alternative teenagers but instead make a group of work based around a few people representing how we feel alone in society and isolated from others instead of crowded like the 'normal' people within society. I want to experiment with exposure in the style of Amanda Normans work with the high contrast between light and dark to represent the dark elements within the subcultures, specifically the emo and goth subculture of those I will be photographing and the light element linking to how we use fashion, makeup and music to express ourselves and how we use it as a way to escape. Linking to the current issues with metal health among youths.

I decided to use a location very near to the college to photograph as it will be easier for us all to get to and we can use our college breaks to shoot making it convenient for us all. Being close by also means that it will be easy to go back to if I wanted to do another shoot in the same location or go back to get some more photos. The location is also very fitting for the dark theme with an old church on the grounds and old gravestones on the inside of the church walls.
For shoot 2 I intend to photograph at a Catholic church which is quite important to my family as my nan used to go there weekly as my family is mostly catholic. I have always been interested in the statues and architecture on and around the building as well as the stained glass windows and thought it would be good to link in with my project due to the gothic like style of the church and its surroundings. I think its also good to explore the stereotypes within subcultures as many people believe that goths are atheist or satanic due to the clothing and makeup that they wear however this isn't always the case and is due to a lack of research by members of society leading to presumptions about us. Mainly lead by older generations and people from the church. The location is easy for me to get to and isn't out of the way so if I needed I could easily go back for more photos.
For shoot 3 I am planning on going to a graveyard to do some black and white photography in similar style to Amanda Norman. Focusing again on stereotypes within the more darker subcultures like Goths and Emo's and locations that are typically associated with them. I plan to go to the more older part of the cemetery as its more respectful and makes the images look more dark. I am planning to go when its a more rainy or foggy day so the photos have a more sinister feel to them.
Glass Ball and Prism photography
For my next shoot I intend to make some work experimenting with a glass ball and light prism. The glass ball flips what's in the frame around to create a cool effect while the light prism and glass diamond can be used to reflect light upon a subjects face as well as be used over the lens. As my project has had to change slightly due to the current circumstances, this will enable me to do some shoots at home with objects around me such as skulls as well self portraiture. I can also do some interesting shoots with graveyard photography again but with the glass ball adding to some experimental work.
