is an art installation piece for my experimental image making project. (2019)

for my installation piece, i continued to explore the idea of formation using strings. our identity is made up of our experiences and our background. my work shows sheets of embroided chinese character strokes. the strokes itself have no meaning, but by putting them together, they become something powerful. bits and pieces form words, create messages and they become a form of communication. like these characters, we are made up of pieces and we always have to acknowledge that our chinese roots is a part of that. 根 is the chinese character for ‘root’.
