Lab Stats provides tools to higher education institutions throughout the world to track computer usage across campus computer labs and other resources such as printers, 3d printers and accessible workstations. I was brought on to help modernize the look and feel of the current Lab Stats portal. As part of that work I began the creation of a design system and helped push forward a larger rebranding of the corporate brand identity. 

The arrival of Covid-19 provided some very interesting challenges to the work we were doing, namely: if all the college campuses we serviced were going to have students be remote for the foreseeable future… what usefulness would a product that tracks physical computer usage provide, if those computers aren’t being physically used. Thanks to some quick thinking by the head of our product and development teams we were able to create a very rough proof of concept that displayed computers that enabled students to use the enterprise level software that is available on campus computers using their own personal computers.

I was responsible for taking the basic proof of concept created by the head of product and development, and integrating it into our branding. I was also able to create the backend flow that would allow users of our core Lab Stats product to administer and create dashboards through the Lab Stats Portal back-end.
