In January 2020, I tripped and fell head first into a brick wall. The resulting injury was shockingly dramatic: a large bump/hematoma, facial swelling, and two black eyes with bruising that continued all the way down my neck. Each day I photographed myself lying in bed with my iPad, and then drew over the photograph in Paper by FiftyThree. The lighting and the contours of my face changed each day, as winter turned to spring and I began to heal. The last photo was taken at the end of the year, December 2020, as the final image.
