Roberta Cortese's profile

Esa-Tetra-Kamasutra

The Esa-Tetra-Kama-Sutra is a playful and at the same time a very handy book art project, binding together love and paper games.

Contents: my simplified illustrations of the best known parts from Vatsyayana’s text, i.e. a graphical schema with my Italian translation of the chapters of “Kinds of Union According to Dimensions”, “On the Various Ways of Lying Down, and the Different Kinds of Congress” and “On Holding the Lingam in the Mouth” (of course I didn’t translate from Sanscrit, but from the English translation by Sir Richard Burton dated 1883).

Content holders: one esa-tetraflexagon, two tetra-tetra flexagons and (closing in simplicity) one pamphlet.

Game rules: if you want to learn some new move, you have to find out how to fold and open the flexagons. You can then have some rest with the pamphlet.

Cover with paper cut in handmade Indian paper.
